Bangkok Travel Advice

Anti-government rallies and protests will continue to disrupt Bangkok, despite the consolidation of protests sites across the city. The Yellow Shirts are adamant that this consolidation isn’t a retreat, and they will continue to march across the city, targeting official government buildings and any business affiliated with Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

The threat level in Bangkok is currently elevated to HIGH due to persistent and ongoing political unrest occurring within the city. The threat is expected to increase in the forthcoming weeks, however the situation is likely to resolve in the medium term.

With the use of gun fire and grenades becoming commonplace across the city the biggest threat to travellers in Bangkok during this period of unrest is collateral damage from a violent protest and interruptions to itineraries due to transport and logistical issues.
